The art battle of reality vs escapism, why not both!
One of the first painting assignments that schools, secondary or college, like to give to artists is an assignment which has both realism and abstract/abstraction in the same piece. For example, painting a realistic landscape with figures that look like Modigliani’s people. This show stems form this exercise about realism vs. abstract or choosing both in the same piece.
Artist have been asked to share juxtaposing views of realism and abstraction. You will also see artists taking a surreal approach to reality in this show like Salvatore Dali’s melting clocks. So whether you are looking to see flowers that are so lifelike you can smell their pollen or impressionist landscapes that flow into your subconscious or experience other realms that look real but are too extraordinary to exist, this is will be a fun show for you.
