ARTIST BIO
Jessica Rae, PainterI
Muskegon, Michigan
Jessica’s beginnings are that of the American Dream. Her mother had moved to the United States from the Philippines when she was 19, and she traveled all across the country. After much searching she ended up loving the town of Fremont, MI, which is where Jessica spent most of her youth. She now lives in Muskegon, Michigan.
She likes to work with Acrylic Paint, Pencil, Charcoal. This is her first art gallery entry and we can see this is only the beginning to her journey. She is excited to enter the new world of art experimentation. She says she loves trying out new mediums.
Her inspiration comes from a unique perspective in the backdrop of the hustle and bustle of American everyday life. She describes her process of tapping into her creative side by seeing the unlimited possibilities.
Honestly, I love magic, and all of the fantastical creatures/people/wildlife/worlds that could possibly exist, it’s so fascinating to me. Anytime I pick up a brush or a pencil my mind starts to think of what those creatures are doing right now.– Jessica
Her love for art has always been a part of her she says, she even used to make her own fun comic books when I was a kid. She really started learning about painting and drawing from her mom’s best friend, who would have her sketch on a canvas and then try to paint it.
My very first painting was an oil piece of daisies in a blue vase. – Jessica
She says what inspires her is putting more art out into the world. For her it is an amazing thing, “The world can always use more art!” Art lets her truly express herself and how she views the world. Art is the one thing she feels, that connects us to our ancestral beings. It allows us to express ourselves in so many unbelievable ways. She believes the type of art we create links us to our ancestors.
Her message to anyone out there aspiring to be an artist is this, “Even if you don’t think you could achieve an art style or technique that another artist has done, try it anyways, experiment, figure out what works for you, someone out there will see the beauty in it, I promise.”
